Dancing Naked In The Corn | BB Articles: "I was asked if Doctor Who could take me on a journey in his Tardis where I would choose to go, but when it came to seriously thinking about it I was stumped. I considered the periods of history that I knew something about and dismissed them one by one."

Gift Ideas For Men - Celtic Jewellery? | Celtic Bracelet: "My cousin suggested Celtic jewellery when I was looking for the perfect gift for an old friend s 50th birthday and really struggling. Mike is one of those mens men, into rugby and football but too old to play now. A round of golf and propping up the bar at the end of the game is about his limit."

BB Articles Back In Business
It's funny how things work out. At the end of June I announced that I was closing down BB Articles as an article directory but I wasn't sure what I was going to do with the domain. First of all I was just going to put an autoblog up but I didn't like it. So I added a few articles while I was making my mind up.
Then one of the previous regular authors who I trusted created a new account as a subscriber, so I upgraded him to author and there we have an article directory again. I've added several useful plug ins which includes one for an article directory, but I have not set it up for just anybody to be able to sign up as authors.
One of the biggest problems with the previous article directory was the massive amount of time spent checking articles, many of which were declined. I do not ever want to check articles to that extent again, it would drive me bananas. So the new BB Articles directory is set for new posts to automatically go online. Because of that I only want authors who I can trust not to submit plagiarised, keyword spam, spun out of all recognition, pure rubbish articles or links to bad sites.
New authors have to go through the process of signing up as a subscriber and then emailing me with either a link to the first article that they want to submit or a copy of it. If I find it acceptable I will upgrade their account to author. If I don't they won't be able to submit articles. I will monitor submissions and close accounts if the authors don't play ball.
As I know that the majority are in too much of a rush to submit articles and move on then there will be far less authors than previously and that will make BB Articles more exclusive and easier to manage.
How is it going so far?
I've been absolutely gobsmacked at the difference. I added a plug in called Statpress SEOlution where I can moniter traffic and what I am seeing is more traffic than ever before. I think that it is better traffic in the sense that previously a big percentage were looking for article directories but now the search strings are more involved with the content.
Maybe I'm wrong about this but I think that the pages are getting indexed very quickly whereas with the old article dashboard script I felt that a lot weren't being indexed. What I am seeing regularly is keyword searches from Google and Bing mainly, finding articles that were submitted less than an hour earlier.
Page views are also much higher and some articles are getting extraordinary amounts of views all things considered. I've added a most viewed articles list to the home page and you can see the figures for yourself. The current top article has had 1868 views within 24 days, if you consider that the article was already on several directories and websites before being added to BB Articles that is quite an achievement. I have just done a search and BB Articles is listed as the top article directory for that title and keyphrase, in fact from a few searches I am finding that BB Articles is doing far better than previously in that sense.
Although lots of page views are great we also need clickthroughs for the authors. I haven't checked that out yet but will do soon with some of my own articles. If any of the authors want to let me know how their articles are doing for clickthroughs I would appreciate the information.
What will be helping article views is that every article is tweeted and that feeds from BB Articles are set up on Technorati, this blog and lots of other sites. It's also nice for me that BB Articles started straight away to earn more brass as a blog than it ever did using the article dashboard script. Not masses but more promising.
I feel bad about all of the authors losing their backlinks and maybe the search engines will penalise a site showing a lot of dead links from the disappeared articles, but as time went on a lot of the older articles had dead links anyway but it took forever to find and sort them out. Another good thing about BB Articles being a blog is that I now have a dead link checker and can sort out problems quickly as they arise.
Authors can submit videos and add their own pictures to the articles, or they can use images from the gallery that I am building. I feel a lot happier with the new BB Articles and I've got a feeling that the authors will do too.
